World of Whiskeys

I’ve uploaded a bunch of my pix from last year’s trip to England and France. I think I’m going to go ahead and get a pro Flickr account ($24.95/year) because I’ve already exceeded my month’s allotment of free bandwidth, and I’m inclined to take a lot more pictures if there’s an easy way to share them online with others.

I bought a bottle of 18-year-old single malt Scotch in this shop at one of the London airports (Gatwick, I think, although I also used Heathrow).

I am still in love with Flickr, by the way.

we got links!

Why spend any time outside today when you can keep your skin pasty white by remaining hunched over your computer indoors for hours at a time? Here, let me help:

your body is the next country to be conquered

In Indiana, “Planned Parenthood Is Told to Show Children’s Files” (NY Times). This situation is hot on the heels of the Kansas Attorney General’s fishing expedition. Meanwhile “Savage Love” author Dan Savage continues to point out that straight folks have as much to fear from the sex police as gay folks.

Update: Instead of engaging in these kinds of activities, those who claim to be interested in the wellbeing of underage girls should ask themselves this question: What is it about our culture that inhibits girls from reporting genuine sexual abuse to the proper authorities? Shame-based sex education–a philosophy that treats all sexual activity by young people as pathological–is part of the problem. If they were honest in their intent, the attorneys general would also consider what legal threats might result in the reduction of sexual choices available to adult men who impregnate underage girls.* I doubt, however, that they will take these steps.

*I’m not advocating that state attorneys general should engage in legal threats to try to regulate sexual behavior; I’m just trying to point out the hypocrisy.

printer: for sale / want to buy

Our HP Laserjet 1000 is incompatible with our Powerbooks, though it works with our creaky old Gateway that may not be long for this world. It’s a great and reliable little printer. Does anyone in Kansas City want to buy it?

What recommendations do you, dear reader, have for a new printer that works with Apple computers? Something with Bluetooth capability, perhaps? Or does that add too much to the cost?

Update: What about the HP PSC 1610 All-in-One? Only $129 and it prints, copies, and scans, though it has no built-in wireless. Is buying an “all-in-one” asking for trouble?
