iceland in october?

Only recently did I learn about the Iceland Airwaves music festival. For less than $700, you get round-trip airfare, hotel accommodations, breakfast, and a festival pass. The dates correspond with our fall break.

Hmm.

Update: I think this requires two people to qualify for the package deal. Anyone want to go with me?

catastrophic

I recently got turned on to the band Rainer Maria by the old gray lady. Their most recent album, Catastrophe Keeps Us Together, is just about perfect.

A recent conversation:

George: I’m seriously crushing on this singer.

Dr. B
: Heh.
G: Why can’t I find any cute indie rock girls like that?

B: This place is crawling with them.
G: What place?
B: The world.
G: Heh.

But actually I don’t think I’m going to want to date anyone for awhile.

For now, I’m off to the beach, books and articles in tow.

this made me laugh

Broken Social Scene‘s video for “Fire Eye’d Boy,” featuring a cameo by Geddy Lee. (via Pitchforkmedia)

The show of the summer will be Belle & Sebastian performing with opening acts Broken Social Scene and Ted Leo & the Pharmacists on July 7. I would gladly drive to Columbia, Maryland to see this. Unfortunately, the show is at Merriweather Post Pavilion, a venue I’ve never attended but which I strongly suspect sucks.

Hey, George, I thought you were going to use this site to deal with academic issues and complex ideas and stuff, not music news and links to funny videos!

Shut up, you.
